The influx of cheaply-made Chinese goods represent the same thing to 'America the Global Superpower' as the smallpox-infected blankets of the early American settler did to the Plains Indians of the day. Our trade deficit with China stood at nearly $235B ($235,000,000,000) for 2006 with 2007 set to make even that dizzying number seem insignificant. We stand on the brink of the collapse of the American dollar, the collapse of the American economy and the rise of a new and unstoppable empire in the East.

Alarmist?
No - alarming.
Why is the American consumer seemingly incapable of making the connection? Why are the profiteers of our doom (Wal-Mart, et al) not being held accountable for the siphoning of our once great wealth into the pockets of our greatest potential threat?

Food safety is not the issue to be debating here: trade safety is.
